The Gauchers Association has teamed up with the Advocacy Team at the MPS Society who are a highly experienced team with expertise in many areas including benefit applications and tribunals, special educational needs, housing issues and independent living support.
Here are just a few ways in which the Advocacy Team can support you:
Benefits – completing benefit forms and providing information and letters of support on the effects of having Gaucher Disease. For example, the Disability Living Allowance, Housing Benefits, Carers Allowance, or Employment Support Allowance.
Educational Support – providing practical guidance and help for those caring for someone with Gaucher Disease on how to navigate your child’s needs within education
Independent Living – providing practical guidance and help for those living with Gaucher Disease who live independently and need support.
Representation – appearing in person for/with you if you need representation at an Appeal hearing for benefits or in other circumstances where their advocacy support may help you.
Insurance – providing information and useful contact numbers of insurance companies that may be able to assist you in obtaining travel and life insurance.
