The London Marathon 2025

On 27th April 2025, 8 intrepid runners took to the streets of London to take part in the London Marathon 2025 raising vital funds for The Gauchers Association.

Indi Rowley, pictured on the top left took part in the marathon as her close family friend has type 3 Gaucher disease. She said of the marathon, ” An amazing experience to take part in the London marathon and knowing how the money I have raised will support people like Mia and her family.”

Paul Stokes took part in the London Marathon on behalf of The Gauchers Association as his wife Sharon, has type 1 Gaucher disease. They came up with lots of good fundraising ideas including a cuppa and cake sale to raise money for the GA. Of the marathon, Paul shared the following, “A huge thank you to The Gauchers Association for giving me the opportunity to run the 2025 London Marathon.  It was a truly memorable day.  I love running in warm still weather so for me the conditions were perfect. The water showers every few miles were something to look forward to, less exciting was the treacle like surface for a 100 metres or so after the Lucozade stations, it seems more drink was spilt than consumed. The sickly sweet smell of sugary drink will stay long on my memory. A much greater memory were the huge number of people cheering us on,  so many young children all looking for a “Hi Five”, or desperate to share their sweets with the runners. So very many kind people along the way that made the 26 miles fly by.  My first words to Sharon at the finish line were “I want to do it again next year”.  Such a brilliant experience. Thank you!”
